Valheim on PS5: release date, crossplay and save support

Valheim is available on PlayStation 5. It released on September 9, 2026 alongside Valheim 1.0 and Deep North. You can play solo or join friends through crossplay; online play on PS5 requires PlayStation Plus. Crossplay does not automatically transfer your PC character or world save to PS5.

What is the Valheim PS5 release date?

The PS5 release date is September 9, 2026. Older articles saying the PlayStation version has no release date describe an earlier announcement state. The game is now listed for purchase on the PlayStation Store.

Do you need PS Plus? Can you play alone?

PS Plus is required for online play. Online play is optional, so you can play alone without making multiplayer the starting point. The PS5 listing supports up to ten online players and identifies the local game as single-player.

For a solo start, choose a world and follow the boss order at your own pace. If you want an easier resource or death-penalty setting, inspect world modifiers before committing to a new run.

Does PS5 support crossplay with PC and Xbox?

Yes. Valheim supports crossplay between platforms, including PS5, PC and Xbox. Agree on the world your group will use and make sure everyone's game is updated before joining. Joining friends and moving a personal save are separate tasks.

Can you move your PC save to PS5 through cross-save?

There is no general cross-platform save synchronization for PS5. The supported Xbox-to-Microsoft-Store-PC save relationship does not extend to PS5. Owning a PC character therefore does not make that character appear automatically on PlayStation.

If you are deciding between continuing a PC world and beginning on PS5, make that choice before planning around an existing character. Crossplay can put friends together in a session while their personal save progression remains on their respective platforms.

Can you install mods on PS5?

Valheim 1.0 has no console mod support. A PC BepInEx installation guide does not apply to the PS5 version. Browser tools such as the food and equipment planner and build cost calculator remain useful because they do not require a mod on the console.

Is Valheim also available on PS4?

The PlayStation release is listed for PS5. PS4 is not among the announced 1.0 platforms. Do not assume PS4 availability from the fact that Valheim also supports Xbox One; the supported console families differ.
