Valheim boss order: every boss, offering and unlock

Valheim's bosses follow the biomes, from the Meadows out to the Deep North. Each boss drops something you need for the next tier of tools, stations or dungeons, so fighting them in order is the intended path. Every boss also drops a trophy that you can hang on the Sacrificial Stone for a Forsaken power. Kall Fimbulbringer is the exception.

What does each boss unlock?

  1. Eikthyr drops three Hard Antlers. They make the Antler Pickaxe, your first pickaxe, which mines the copper and tin you need for bronze. Guide: how to beat Eikthyr.
  2. The Elder drops a Swamp Key for each player. It opens the Sunken Crypts, whose muddy scrap piles give you scrap iron. The key is not used up. Guide: how to beat the Elder.
  3. Bonemass drops a Wishbone for each player. Wearing it pings nearby hidden things: buried treasure in the Meadows, muddy scrap piles in the Swamp and silver veins in the Mountain. Guide: how to beat Bonemass.
  4. Moder drops ten Dragon Tears. Two build the Artisan Table, which you need for Plains crafting. Guide: how to beat Moder.
  5. Yagluth drops three Torn Spirits. One builds the Wisp Fountain, which gives you the wisps for the Wisplight that clears the Mistlands mist. Guide: how to beat Yagluth.
  6. The Queen drops five Majestic Carapaces. One builds the Artisan Press. Guide: how to beat the Queen.
  7. Fader drops five Kindled Ribs, each of which builds an Eternal Pyre. Beating Fader ends the undead raids that begin after the Queen. Guide: how to beat Fader.
  8. Kall Fimbulbringer drops Sacrificial Blood and a Crown Jewel for the Crown of Valheim. He gives no trophy. Guide: how to beat Kall Fimbulbringer.

Which Forsaken power does each boss give?

PowerWhat it gives for 5 minutes
Eikthyr60 % less stamina for running, jumping and swimming
The Elderhealth regeneration +30 %, chopping and mining +60 %
Bonemassslight resistance to blunt, slash and pierce, blocking costs no stamina
Moderfrost resistance, carry weight +300, movement speed +10 %
Yagluthlightning resistance, damage +10 %
The Queeneitr regeneration +100 %, poison resistance, sneaking costs no stamina
Faderfire resistance, adrenaline gain +100 %, stagger resistance +50 %

Every power has a 20-minute cooldown. You carry one at a time, and offering a new trophy replaces the old power.

Can you skip a boss?

You can fight a later boss early if you reach its altar and bring its offering. However, you will miss the drop that opens the next tier. Without the Hard Antler you have no pickaxe for copper or tin. Without the Swamp Key you cannot get into the crypts for iron. Each boss is also tuned for the gear of its own biome. Skipping one usually means fighting the next one with weapons and armour a tier too low.
